Automobili Lamborghini has released the first photographs of a limited edition Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster. The Roadster version of the Murciélago will offer an uprated 6.5 litre V12 engine that produces 650 hp (478 kW) along with permanent four-wheel drive: hence the model’s LP 650-4 moniker. With 660 Nm of torque, top performance is at 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is around 330 Km/h (205mph).

The special edition model will be produced in a limited volume (50 units only), with a Grigio Telesto exterior that combines grey bodywork with a special bright orange Arancio LP 650-4 featured on the front spoiler and sills. The LP 650-4 logo applied to the car’s exterior is recognition of the car’s increased power. The car features orange brake calipers and a transparent V12-engine cover, which shows off the V12 engine behind the driver.

Interior features echo the car's striking grey-and-orange exterior: besides the orange touches, there is an asymmetric dash design, with black Alcantara Nera on the driver's side, including door panel and central tunnel, and black leather Nero Perseus on the passenger's side.

The increased power of the Murciélago engine, from 640 to 650 hp, will be unique to the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster: it demonstrates even further the developments that Lamborghini is able to offer from a current engine, and creates the exclusive characteristic of the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster.

The project represents a personal vision of a Lamborghini 2 seater super sports car.

The inspiration comes from nature, and especially the insect world. I began by studying the different types of exoskeletons or armor that certain insects have.

I sought to apply these type of organic forms and translate them into the style of the brand so that when you see the car, you have no doubt that it is a Lamborghini. This type of armored appearance is especially visible in the rear and top views.

The dimensions of the car are: 4300 mm length (same as the Gallardo), 1000 mm height and 2000 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2650 mm. The body is carbonfiber and the car can use the same engine as the Gallardo.

The idea was to create a very extreme race oriented supercar with a style that introduces new soft and organic lines and integrates them into the geometrical style of Lamborghini.

BESPOKE BODYWORK AND £10K AIR VENTS…

Prindiville Prestige revives the art of exclusive coachbuilding

Record sales of top-end supercars and luxury limousines over the past few years has been good news for manufacturers, but perhaps less satisfactory for customers seeking exclusivity.

So how do you stand out when all your contemporaries have the same supercar as you? Simple: by commissioning your own bespoke coachwork.

British-based Prindiville Prestige is reviving the traditional art of exclusive coachbuilding and complementing it with modern materials and technologies, allowing clients to create a car that is unique. And to demonstrate its talents in three-dimensional form, Prindiville Prestige has painstakingly handcrafted the ‘Murciélago by Prindiville’.

‘Murciélago by Prindiville’

Although retaining the central core of the donor Lamborghini, in terms of its bodywork ‘Murciélago by Prindiville’ shares only the front compartment lid; all the other panels, including the roof, have been replaced and restyled.

There’s a bolder, more aggressive front valance, eye-catching sills, a more dynamic rear valance through which exits a specially designed titanium sports exhaust system, ‘handle-less’ doors with remote electric opening, and a restyled engine bay cover with transparent cooling louvres. All of the body panels are in exquisitely finished carbonfibre.

The main objective of the REITER Strada concept is to bring the technology, experience and know-how from many years of motorsport activity to the street. A typical Lamborghini, in itself a work of art, nevertheless leaves a few areas for optimization.

The REITER Murciélago Strada is designed in the style of its aggressive looking brother the race REITER Murciélago R-GT. Large quantities of carbon-fiber are also used on this model. The front splitter, rear diffusor and rear wing are manufactured specially from this precious material. The application of original Alcantara leather in the cockpit for the in-house designed sports bucket seats lends the car more than a touch of sporting elegance.

The undoubted spectacular appearance of the REITER Murciélago Strada is more than emphasized by the sound of our exhaust system.

The race proven suspension, for which a special set-up was developed during the course of a lengthy and extensive test program by our professional race drivers and engineers, improves the handling. This, combined with the racing brake-system and REITER light-alloy wheel rims, ensures that the entire package provides the greatest driving pleasure.

It is not only the wheel rims that originate from the REITER Murciélago R-GT race car, but also an optional roll-cage with Alcantara "soft-sleeve" covering, or a state-of-the-art light-weight carbon covered fire extinguisher system can also be installed.

The main objective of the REITER Strada concept is to bring the technology, experience and know-how from many years of motorsport activity to the street. A typical Lamborghini, in itself a work of art, nevertheless leave a few areas for optimization.

The REITER Murciélago Strada is designed in the style of its aggressive looking brother the race REITER Murciélago R-GT, which is a reason why the REITER Murciélago Strada is still one of the fastest 15 cars to lap the Hockenheimring. In the process of this benchmark test staged by the specialist magazine "sport auto" it also leaves current Lamborghini brand models, such as the LP560-4 or Superleggera, in its wake. The Strada derivatives will also benefit from the current development work on the REITER Gallardo GT3 Evo-kit.

The undoubted spectacular appearance of the REITER Murciélago Strada is more than emphasized by the sound of our exhaust system.

Front splitter, rear diffusor and an aluminum flat bottom collectively form the refined aerodynamic configuration. The application of original Alcantara leather in the cockpit for the in-house designed sports bucket seats lends the car more than a touch of sporting elegance.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni – Driving fun with absolute precision

He has long been revered as one of the many legends surrounding the world’s most uncompromising sports car brand – Valentino Balboni, a remarkable test driver with his own personal cult status. Automobili Lamborghini now presents a model in his honour and bearing his name – the Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni.

The latest version of the Gallardo, Lamborghini’s most successful model of all time - overall, more than 9,000 units of the model range have already been produced - boasts not only its own distinctive design and exclusive equipment, but its technology is unique too, as indicated by the model badge: the 550 stands for the power output in hp and the 2 is for rear wheel drive.

For several decades, Valentino Balboni has had a distinct influence on the character of the super sports car bearing the sign of the bull. With his fine-tuning and testing work, he has helped to shape many automotive legends, from the Lamborghini Miura of the 60s through to the current Gallardo and Murciélago models. Balboni was hired in 1967 by company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini himself. From early on, it was evident that the young Balboni had a special feel for cars, that most sensitive of all instincts that connects to the ‘life blood’ of an automobile and defines the soul of a test driver.
